Delgados, Warrington

delgados-homeDelgados had recently reopened back in February after being shut for a while because of a fire last year. It had been on my list to try for ages, and so, for my 30th birthday I decided to give it a go. Judging by the latest reviews on TripAdvisor it was definitely worth trying.

I booked a table for half 7, and when we arrived it was packed, so it was a good job that we had reserved a table. This place is really small but has a nice cosy atmosphere inside.

We ordered some drinks while we had a look through the menu (link here) but I had already looked online and had decided what I was going to have. We got some olives to nibble on as well, but I forgot to take a picture of these. They were decent though.

It did take a while for our order to be taken but here is what we had to eat.

My Mum and I went for the mussels for our starter. These were really nice but I would have liked them to come with some bread to dip in the bottom of the garlic buttery water!. We could also have done with a bowl of water to dip our fingers in after we had eaten them as well.

musselsEmma went for the tomato soup. I tried a bit and it was really nice.

soupMy dad went for the pate and luckily Emma had left a bit of her bread so I managed to grab my dads left over pate and caramelized onions and put them on this.

pateThen our mains arrived.

pizzaI went for the meat maffasio pizza which had crispy bacon, chorizo sausage and pepperoni on. For me a pizza has to have meat on it! The more meat the better.

steakMy dad went for the steak, he said it was one of the best he has ever had. I tried a bit and it was pretty nice.

carbonaraMy mum went for one of her favourites – spaghetti carbonara. This is also one of my favourites and she really enjoyed the dish. I had some of this and if I go again I will definitely pick this.

spag-bolEmma also went for her favourite italian dish which has been featured on this blog a few times already, which was spaghetti bolognese.

I was absolutely stuffed but with it being my 30th I still wanted to try and force down a dessert even if it made me sick! I went for the tira bocker glory. Which is there own take on combining a tiramasu and a nicker bocker glory. I am always up for trying new food and this was a pretty decent dessert.

nickerbockerMy mum went for the profiteroles as this is one of her favourites. Her and Emma shared this and it all got eaten. I guess they must have enjoyed it.

prafOverall the bill came to £111. All 4 of us had 3 courses, there was also the olives, and the drinks as everyone had at least 2 drinks with me having 4 or 5 beers.

  • Service: Tonight it was a bit slow but it was really really busy.
  • Atmosphere: Nice and small, very busy with a nice atmosphere. Definitely book.
  • Food: Can’t fault the food. I can see why it gets such good reviews on Tripadvisor
  • Cost: Decent prices.
